Frequently Asked Questions - Updated May 2026Do I have to be a member of NCRAF to attend the workshops? Yes, you must have a current active NCRAF membership to attend. However, becoming a member is easy! Just register online; currently membership is only $50 (or, if you are a student or unemployed jobseeker, a discounted rate is available). You do *not* need to live in North Carolina to benefit from membership. All of the Workshop sessions, and most of our other programs, are available by remote/hybrid access, and are also recorded for later access by current members. Does the initial registration fee for the Workshop include access to ALL of the sessions? Yes, this one-time fee includes the full series! Please note that access to the materials lasts until April 30th of the next year - just as the next Workshop series is about to start. What if I am unable to attend all of the sessions? We’ll miss you, but we do try to record all of the presentations and post the recordings for attendees to download (from NCRAF's LMS) and review at their convenience. We will not be able to make any pro-rated refunds if you drop out of the workshop; however, the recordings and presentations will continue to be available to you via the NCRAF LMS website through April of the next year. Do I have to buy the RAPS textbook? No. If you plan on taking the RAPS certification exam, it is recommended that you buy the current textbook (buy directly from RAPS, or find an older copy elsewhere). However, it is not required, to benefit from this workshop. (No, NCRAF is not organizing any bulk purchase of the RAPS book). Will I get Continuing Education Credits for attending the workshop? Each NCRAF Workshop hour attended equates to 1 continuing education credit. However, NCRAF does not issue Certificates for the workshop. Claim the appropriate CE credits on your RAPS worksheet when the time comes to re-certify. What about the RAPS certification exam(s)? The RAC exams are offered twice a year: a spring session (1 April–30 May) and a fall session (1 October–30 December). Specific testing dates are set up with the test sites based on space availability. You must register and pay to take the test first; scheduling e mails are only sent out after the registration deadline closes. To date, no one has reported to NCRAF of having been unable to get the testing date and location of their choice. To view more information about the RAPS Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) including registration and exam dates, follow this link: http://www.raps.org/rac.aspx. The new FRA exam (Foundation in Regulatory Affairs) leads to an FRA Certificate (in contrast to the RAC certification), and the FRA exam does not require prior industry experience (whereas the RAC exam does). The FRA exam is not issued in testing windows as RAC is; for FRA, you have 3 months to take the exam after you purchase it online from RAPS. More information about the FRA exam is on the RAPS website pages listed below: |
